Associates
ITU-R Associates
During the Plenipotentiary Conference (Minneapolis, 1998) the concept of Associates was introduced as a way for small entities or organizations to participate in the work of ITU.

The Radiocommunication Assembly, RA-2000 (Istanbul, May 2000) admitted participation of Associates in the activities of the ITU-R Sector and decided on the rights of Associates in ITU-R.

Admission of Associates in their activities is the decision of the ITU-R Sector, Assembly or Conference.

Rights of ITU-R Associates
Interested entities or organizations may join the Radiocommunication Sector as Associates, and be entitled to take part in the work of a selected single Study Group and its subordinate groups.

In the event of discontinuation of the Study Group in which the Associate participates, the Associate could participate in another Study Group of its choice prior to any denunciation on its part.

Associates may take part in the process of preparing Recommendations within a single Study Group, including the roles of participating in meetings, submitting contributions and providing comments before the adoption of Recommendations, if any.

Associates shall be granted access to all Study Group documentation in their chosen Study Group and other Study Groups as required by the work programme.

Associates shall not be involved in voting for, or approval of, Questions and Recommendations.
